The term ‘Macros’ is the abbreviation of the word macronutrients.
Macronutrients are nutrients that provide calories and or energy. They are usually broken down into 3 groups;
Protein – 4 calories per gram.
Carbohydrates – 4 calories per gram.
Fats – 9 calories per gram.
Calculating your calorie needs can help you determine how many grams of protein, carbohydrates and fat you should take in each day. This is another topic on its own that we will cover later in an upcoming blog.
Micronutrients are other essential substances you require in order for you’re body to function at a healthy optimum level, these micronutrients are called vitamins and minerals.
They are required in much smaller quantities opposed to the above mentioned Macronutrients.
The body requires a certain amount of both ‘Micro’ and ‘Macro’ nutrients in order to function and stay healthy in the short, medium and long term.
I’m quite confident you would like to know how to work out you’re daily intake of the above-mentioned food and vitamins.
This information will be in an upcoming blog so stay tuned for that.
